The Cristal shuttle is designed to offer operators a modular mobility solution adapted to public transport. 100% electric, the Cristal offers a user-friendly, comfortable mobility experience that is accessible to everyone, everywhere. Thanks to its ‘public transport’ approach, the Cristal system can be used for a wide range of purposes: serving the first and last kilometres, replacing buses on existing lines or even transport on demand.
The Cristal solution is constantly adapting to passenger numbers (convoys of 1 to 3 shuttles). This comprehensive offering underlines its unique and highly innovative character. With its range of vehicles comprising the Cristal (manned shuttle) and the iCristal (autonomous shuttle), LOHR meets the mobility needs of local authorities, with or without a driver. These transport solutions can be used for new 100% Cristal or iCristal lines, or to complete the existing network by offering multiple uses: public transport or transport on demand. Designed and developed as a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) solution, Cristal and iCristal complement mass public transport and can be operated intermodally.
For LOHR, HAIKU DESIGN has been involved since the creation of Cristal in idea generation, definition, design studies and experimentation concerning strategy, concepts, the vehicle, brand identity, provision stations, user interfaces and online and offline communication.
The Cristal project was first presented as part of the Saint-Etienne Design Biennial in March 2013, and officially as part of the ‘COP21 Solutions’ exhibition in Paris at the Grand-Palais in December 2015.
Cristal and HAIKU DESIGN have won awards including:
