The Mobility Division of the SIEMENS Group offers comprehensive and high-performance solutions in the areas of railway and urban rolling stock, mobility, transport and logistics management. In addition, Siemens France is the global competence centre of the Siemens Group for automatic metros.
Cityval is the latest addition to the range of automatic metros on wheels and has been designed to meet the growing needs of cities for sustainable mobility solutions. It is characterised by its modularity, its energy performance and the particular care taken to ensure passenger comfort, information and safety. Made up of 1 to 6 cars, it offers a capacity of 1,000 to 30,000 passengers per hour and per direction. The airport version, called Airval, has been designed to facilitate passenger connections with urban lines and interconnections between the terminals and service areas of the airport.
For SIEMENS Mobility, HAIKU DESIGN imagined and realised the entire exterior design and interior fittings of the commercial demonstrator Cityval.
In November 2010, the Cityval was selected to equip the second line of the Rennes Metro, for commissioning in 2021.
